Just for fun, I thought I'd share a few samples of how cheap it is to
live/travel in Asia (maybe to entice a few people to visit this side of
the globe :)
Hotel for one night (one block from the beach) - $12.50
A meal for 2 (rice and three sides) - $1.25
Rent a motorbike for 3 days - $12
Bottled water - $0.25
Bag of potato chips $0.30
2 beach chairs for the day - $1.25
Souvenir - 6 bamboo place mats - $3
Snickers from the hotel fridge - $0.80 (we were a little desperate for chocolate:)
Train ride from Hue to Da Nang (about 3 hours) - $3.50
Bus ticket from Laos to Vietnam - $24.50
The one thing that can get pricey is a taxi ride...we found that
out the hard way the day we arrived in Da Nang. But otherwise, traveling
in Asia is super economical and simply gorgeous!
